From 1 October 2024, Dan Smith will take over as group CFO of Lesaka Technologies.
Dan is a chartered accountant with over 25 years of corporate finance experience. He has worked in the financial services industries in both South Africa and the United Kingdom, including as the head of Standard Bank South Africa’s mergers and acquisitions investment banking division.
Dan has worked with Lesaka since 2021 as the investment director for the company’s major shareholder, Value Capital.
“I am delighted to be joining as CFO at this exciting time for Lesaka. Having worked closely with the team on strategy, M&A and the capital structure for the past three years. I look forward to playing a key role in the next growth phase of its journey as we add further scale and solutions to our leading fintech platform,” he said.
“Under my leadership, we will continue to build the finance function into an effective business enabler for the group and support the ambitious growth plans of Lesaka through information systems, efficient capital allocation decision-making and balance sheet optimisation,” he added.
In his new post as CFO, he will succeed Naeem Kola, who has been appointed Lesaka COO.
Both Dan and Naeem will report directly to Lesaka’s executive chairperson, Ali Mazanderani.
