Dion Mhlaba nominated for CFO Awards 2019

Dion Mhlaba has been nominated for his role as CFO of black-owned healthcare company RH Bophelo.

Dion Mhlaba has been nominated for his work as the CFO at RH Bophelo and the application of his vast knowledge, exposure and experience in his role.

The CFO Awards 2019, known as the ‘Oscars for South African finance professionals’, gives CFOs of listed companies, large corporations, state-owned entities and government institutions the opportunity to be recognised and rewarded for their exceptional performance and leadership. 

Dion completed his auditing articles with KPMG, where he qualified as a CA(SA) and Registered Auditor (RA). His audit role included financial model audits, tax reviews, IFRS compliance, budgeting and accounting, and in other instances the treatments of financial instruments such as bonds, preference shares, debentures, loans and money market, equities and hybrid instruments.

He has held advisory roles with Afripalm Resources, a company with mining and financial services interests and Sakhumnotho Holdings with exposure to a variety of projects, including mining, financial services, engineering.

He has worked as a Financial Support/manager at Thebe Investments, where the role entailed streamlining of reports, analysing of financial data, budgeting, performance and board reports. 

Dion also held a full-time senior lecturing post with UJ and his passion for working with the youth in business and corporate allows him to continue mentoring new businesses and young professionals. 

RH Bophelo is a fully black-owned healthcare company, which listed on the JSE as a Special Purpose Acquisition Company (SPAC) in July 2017.
