Ramasela Ganda is the first-ever municipal CFO to win at the CFO Awards. In Ekurhuleni Municipality, she introduced state-of-the-art technology and convinced politicians to not only focus the budget on social grants.
A qualified chartered accountant and University of Pretoria graduate, Atteridgeville-born Ramasela earned her spurs at Deloitte, Anglo American and the National Energy Regulator of SA, before passing up the opportunity to become CFO of JSE-listed Tongaat Hulett to take the reins at the municipality in 2014. She has since helped Ekurhuleni earn two consecutive clean audits - a rare feat.
Ramasela's tenure at Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality came to an end in January this year, when she joined Barloworld as CFO: Rental and Used Sales Division and Corporate Services.
Ramasela will be on hand for the fourth installment of the fascinating CFO Summit series in Sandton on 19 July, along with Luvuyo Masinda, CFO CIB Standard Bank, Ockert Janse van Rensburg Group CFO of Motus and Vodacom's Till Streichert, CFO of the Year 2017.
The programme on the evening will include a masterclass, entitled Rolling up your sleeves and getting your hands dirty - agile finance leaders lead the way, and round-table discussions on collaboration with competitors and raising equity.
