Vodacom CFO Till Streichert won the CFO of the Year Award in 2017.
Vodacom CFO Till Streichert was announced as the as the CFO of the Year at the CFO Awards on 11 May 2017 at Summer Place, Johannesburg. He also walked away with the Strategy Execution and Finance Transformation Awards.
Till called his wins a “real privilege”. He said:
“What fascinates me about finance is that, in essence, the sky is the limit. You can do pretty much anything you want. You are in charge of looking at the accounts, you are a finance steward, you look at strategy and are deeply involved in the business, and can create new things. In all of this, it’s about passion.”

Till took the reins as CFO of Vodacom Group in August 2015, after serving as the executive director of finance for Vodacom SA from February 2014. He had been the CFO of Vodafone Romania and held a number of senior positions in that country. Till started out working for the CEO of T-Mobile Germany and moved on to senior roles at T-Mobile UK, in addition to working as a strategy consultant at The Boston Consulting Group. He holds a doctoral degree from Hanover College.

In his free time, Till is an avid mountain biker, and together with his partner David de Lima, he finished 75th in a field of 650 teams in the 2018 Cape Epic, the world’s most famous mountain bike race.
“It really is unique and probably the most prestigious race in the world. What makes it really special is that it allows amateurs to race on the same day and start only five minutes later than the professionals. That is pretty cool,” says Till, adding that the race is as tough as he has ever come across. “It takes you to your physical and mental limits.”
