Goldman Sachs appoints operations auditor from outside of Big Four accounting firms

Goldman Sachs has appointed Mazars as its EU operations auditor with effect from 2021.

Goldman Sachs International has appointed Mazars to audit its London-based European operations in a move that will loosen the grip of PwC, EY, Deloitte and KPMG, which dominate audits of top companies in Britain.

The change is in response to new EU rules that require every listed company to change its auditor every 20 years. PwC was previously used for Goldman Sachs's European operations.

Mazars will start in 2021, while PwC will remain the company's group auditor.

The appointment will boost Mazars from its eighth-place ranking on the list of largest auditor by fee revenue in Britain.
