Grindrod CFO Xolani Mbambo has been nominated for the 2020 CFO Awards, which will be taking place on 14 May.

At the annual ‘Oscars for South African finance professionals’, CFOs of listed companies, large corporations, state-owned entities and government institutions are recognised and rewarded for their outstanding performance and leadership.

Xolani is a seasoned finance executive having worked in mining and logistics industries for over 15 years. He joined Grindrod in 2013 from Anglo American.

In July 2019, Xolani told CFO South Africa that his focus is to support bulking up the remaining freight services division and the diversification of the company’s commodity and customer portfolio.

For Xolani, a great CFO is dynamic. “He delivers on traditional routine finance activities without fail, but his game-changing ‘value-add’ is in understanding the strategy of the business and aligning the finance resources to drive and support the strategy,” he said.

Xolani believes in dynamic teams, using their varying skillsets and diversity to achieve optimal results.
