Hulamin appoints Laren Farquharson as acting CFO

Laren will serve as acting CFO until Hulamin has appointed a permanent CFO.

Aluminium supplier and exporter Hulamin has announced the appointment of Laren Farquharson as its acting CFO with effect from 1 November. 

Laren, a qualified chartered accountant, has been with Hulamin for more than 15 years. His previous roles in the company include head of finance for rolled products, general manager of corporate finance and strategic risk, group financial manager and group treasury manager. 

He is also a member of Hulamin’s rolled products executive committee, where he is responsible for the financial function and reporting of the largest division of the group. 

According to a statement by the company, Laren was also responsible for raising the group’s debt finance and for designing the group’s hedging strategy for currency and commodity price risk.

Before joining Hulamin, Laren served as a category commercial manager at Tiger Brands. Prior to that he was a financial manager for Beacon Sweets and Chocolates

He started his career at Deloitte, where he served as an articled clerk for three years. 

Hulamin said that it is still in the process of appointing a permanent CFO and that Laren will remain acting CFO until an appointment has been made.
