JSE-listed mining group Tharisa has announced the appointment of Jacques Breytenbach as its new chief finance officer designate, with effect from 1 May.
Jacques will officially take over as chief finance officer and executive director on 1 August, succeeding Michael Jones, who is retiring at the end of July after 13 years of service to the group.
Jacques is a seasoned finance executive with over 25 years of experience in integrated mining operations across the diamond and PGM sectors.
He joins Tharisa after serving as the chief financial officer of Petra Diamonds for eight years, having previously held the group finance manager role at the company.
His earlier career includes a stint as finance manager at Anglo American Platinum. He also recently served as a non-executive director and audit committee member for Afrimat.
A qualified CA(SA), Jacques holds a BCompt honours from Unisa.
