Mango CFO Marelize Labuschagne and CEO Nico Bezuidenhout have both resigned.
Marelize Labuschagne has resigned as Mango Airline's CFO as of July 2020.
Marelize has been with the airline since September 2013, when she joined as the CFO. She briefly served as CEO of Mango Airlines from 2018 to 2019, and was again appointed as CFO after Nico Bezuidenhout’s appointment as CEO in 2019.
According to Marelize's LinkedIn page, being the person responsible for the financial, human resources, IT and procurement functions of the organisation, her management skills were put to test in her role as CFO.
Before joining Mango Airlines, Marelize served as the senior audit accountant for Indigo Chartered Accountants. She has also served as the group finance manager for Airports Company South Africa, project manager at PG Glass, executive manager at South African Airways (SAA), finance manager at Hubert Davies and tax consultant at Kessel Feinstein.
She received her B.Compt honours CTA degree from Unisa and a B.Com accounting degree from the University of Pretoria.
On 19 August, Mango CEO Nico Bezuidenhout also resigned.
In an interview with SA Flyer Magazine, Nico said his reasons for leaving the airline are less about the politics at SAA, which owns Mango, and more about his family and lifestyle needs.
He will be leaving South Africa and taking up a new post at Guernsey Airport in the Channel Island, Europe, in November, saying that he is looking for international exposure for several years.
Nico was on his second stint as CEO, which began in October 2019. Before that, he served as acting CEO of SAA.
