40 new hotels for Marriott in 2018 will increase its property portfolio to 422

Marriott International intends to open 40 luxury hotels this year, which will bring the number of luxury properties it offers to 422. Better yet, it still has 200 others in the pipeline.

The openings will include all of its luxury flagship names, including the Ritz-Carlton, Ritz-Carlton Reserve, St. Regis, W Hotels, The Luxury Collection, EDITION, Bulgari and JW Marriott.

However, despite the group’s significant expansion, it must still contend with the likes of independently owned and operated single properties and small groups such as those represented by The Leading Hotels of the World, Preferred Hotels and Resorts, Small Luxury Hotels and Relais & Chateaux, which together have over 1,500 member properties.
