The Hulisani CFO was nominated for the 2019 CFO Awards, citing it a "truly awesome" experience.

In 2019, Hulisani CFO Masibulele Dem was nominated for the CFO Awards which recognises CFOs of listed companies, large corporations, state-owned entities and government institutions and awards them for outstanding performance and leadership.

On 3 July 2020, CFO South Africa community manager John Deane visited Masibulele Dem under strict Covid-19 lockdown regulations to hand him his nominee’s trophy.

“Being a nominee for the CFO Awards in 2019, especially going all the way to the final of the CFO of the Year Award, was truly an awesome experience,” Masibulele said upon receiving his nominee trophee. “It felt great and it was quite encouraging to be recognised in that way.”

He added that it was not without its fair share of anxiety, all the way from the interviews right up to the final moment before the announcement of the winner.

“I truly appreciate the great work that CFO Awards is doing in fostering a sense of unity and excellence within the CFO community,” he said.

Masibulele said that holding that award in his hands was an honour and something that he will cherish for a long time.
