Construction firm Murray & Roberts has increased its stake in Bombela to 50%

The acquisition of a further 17% shareholding in the Bombela Concession Company (BCC), worth R405 million, brings Murray & Roberts’ total stake in the company to 50%. According to Henry Laas, group CEO, the acquisition is part of the construction company’s broader capital allocation strategy.

Jack van der Merwe (pictured), CEO of the Gautrain Management Agency, said:

"We welcome the acquisition and are proud that BCC is now a wholly owned South African company.”

BCC holds the 15-year concession for operating and maintaining the Gautrain. The concession runs until March 2026. Murray & Roberts expected its investment would continue to provide strong returns in the short to medium term.
