Nthanyiseni joins the education institution from the Durban University of Technology.
Nthanyiseni Dhumazi, a qualified chartered accountant who also has an MBA, has been appointed as CFO at the Vaal University of Technology.
Nthanyiseni moved into her new position this month [January] after spending almost five years as the CFO of the Durban University of Technology (DUT). Her career includes positions in finance at the Auditor-General of South Africa, the University of Venda, PwC, and the Department of Roads and Transport in Limpopo.
When she was leaving DUT, the education institution hosted a farewell dinner for her, during which Nthanyiseni explained that she was leaving for family reasons. She noted that her mother-in-law is now the family’s only surviving parent to her and her husband, and grandparent to her two children.
Nthanyiseni added that she needed to be closer to her mother-in-law in case of emergencies.
DUT’s Vice-Chancellor and Principal, Professor Thandwa Mthembu, said Nthanyiseni helped to bring five chartered accountants to DUT in a groundbreaking initiative.
Nthanyiseni did her articles at the then Arthur Anderson and has a master’s degree in commerce from the University of Pretoria as well as an MBA from Henley.
