Riaan Erasmus’s new role forms part of the succession plan and aims to optimise the group’s property portfolio.
Octodec group, a JSE-listed Real Estate Investment Trust (REIT), announced that Riaan Erasmus took on the role of deputy CEO on 30 November 2024.
This follows the April 2024 announcement of Riaan’s appointment as Octodec’s executive FD and debt officer. According to the group, he will continue his responsibilities in these roles alongside his new position as deputy CEO.
The dual role will see him focusing on optimising the group’s portfolio comprising 230 residential, retail, office and industrial properties in Tshwane and Johannesburg. His appointment also forms part of Octodec’s long-term succession planning, where, says the group, he will ultimately succeed the current MD, Jeffery Wapnick.
Riaan graduated from the University of Northwest and qualified as a chartered accountant in 2008 after completing his articles with KPMG South Africa. He has previously held the positions of group financial manager, treasury manager, and debt officer and financial director of Hospitality Property Fund Limited, a REIT that was listed on the JSE until 2021.
Riaan also served as the group treasurer managing the debt portfolio and other treasury-related transactions for the Tsogo Sun and Southern Sun group of companies from 2017 until 2022.
