Elon Musk hints that Tesla will probably be coming to SA at the end of 2019.

Riccardo Spagni, the South African lead developer of Monero, a major global cryptocurrency project, responded to a tweet by Tesla announcing that they were launching 11 new stores in the United States, asking when Elon Musk would be bringing a Tesla store to his birth country - South Africa.

The CEO of Tesla Inc. responded that it would “probably” be at the “end of next year” (2019).

Spagni, who is known in the cryptocurrency community as “Fluffy Pony”, replied “Amazing - I’m first in line when it happens!”

Almost 30 years has gone by since Musk left South Africa for Canada, but the self-made billionaire and founder of Space Exploration Technologies Corp. is still well known and supported in the country of his birth.

Tesla is an American automotive company specialising in electric car manufacturing and, through its SolarCity subsidiary, solar panel manufacturing. The Tesla Store sells electric cars, chargers, accessories and apparel.
