Steinhoff Africa Retail says it plans to change its name back to Pepkor Holdings.

Earlier this week, shortly after Steinhoff Africa Retail (STAR), the JSE-listed company which contains Steinhoff's African retail assets, released its interim results for the six months ended March 2018, it also announced an intended name change back to Pepkor Holdings.

Jayendra Naidoo, the company's chairperson, said:

“I am pleased to advise that the board has unanimously decided to rename the company Pepkor Holdings and will now seek shareholder approval and the completion of all formalities in this regard.”

STAR conducts business in 12 Sub-Saharan African countries, including Angola, Botswana, Namibia, Nigeria, and South Africa. It owns several retail brands, including Ackermans, Pep, Tekkie Town, and Timbercity.
