Woolworths' Reeza Isaacs at CFO Summit

The 2016 CFO of the Year, Woolworths’ Reeza Isaacs, will be in attendance at the second instalment of the CFO Summit series in Cape Town on 22 March. He will be contributing to the dialogue and taking questions from the forum.

After an extensive interview by the judging panel, Isaacs was deemed to be the most worthy candidate of the 25 nominated CFOs last year. The Capetonian's work in transforming his finance team to focus on the balance sheet and return on capital after the group's acquisition of David Jones and Country Road played a big role in his win. The former EY consultant joined Woolworths in June 2013 as deputy CFO, before assuming the senior role in November.

In a previous interview with CFO SA, he explained how financial executives who aspire to become FDs and CFOs can further their cause:

"Find work that you enjoy, because then you become better at it and you enjoy it even more. But keep challenging yourself and make sure you keep learning. Develop some specialised skills like M&A and corporate finance - to equip you for a bigger role. Choose an organisation that you are comfortable with, where you subscribe to the values and point of view. Find yourself a sounding board or a mentor - this doesn't have to be formalized or limited to one person."
