Alex Smith was appointed CFO of Net1 UEPS Technologiies in July 2018. Prior to this he was with the Altron group. He was not only their CFO, but also a member of the Altro1n executive committee, risk management committee and the investment committee. His qualifications include a Bachelor of Law degree from the University of Edinburgh in Scotland, and he is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland. Alex started his career with PwC in Scotland and was then relocated to South Africa in 1995. He was initially involved in auditing, later spending eight years in the transaction services/corporate finance fields. He joined Altron in 2006, and took on the role of CFO in 2008.
