Funke Ighodaro steps in as Old Mutual Life Assurance chairperson

The former Tiger Brands and Primedia CFO has been joining various boards this year, including at Telkom SA.

Old Mutual Life Assurance has appointed experienced CFO Funke Ighodaro as chairperson of its audit committee, with effect from 1 November, succeeding Nosipho Molope.

Nosipho, who is the current chairperson, will have served on the board for nine consecutive years on 31 October. She will remain on the board and its relevant subcommittees until further notice to ensure an orderly transfer of the role.

Funke is the former CFO of Tiger Brands and Primedia, and previously served as an executive director of Barloworld and 9mobile. She also founded and led the private equity business of the Kagiso Trust Investment Group.

An accredited member of the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants and a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales, Funke is currently the audit and risk committee chair of Massmart Holdings and serves as an independent non-executive director of Telkom SA, Sabvest Capital and Ascential. She also serves on the audit committees of these companies.
