Olufunke Ighodaro to fill the skills gap on the Telkom board

The former Tiger Brands CFO has been appointed as an independent non-executive director.

Telkom has appointed former Tiger Brands CFO Olufunke Ighodaro as one of its new independent non-executive directors.

According to a statement by Telkom, Olufunke is “a commercially astute and experienced business leader who has served on the boards of several private and publicly listed companies, bringing diverse and extensive leadership experience and expertise in a large number of business disciplines, but specifically in finance, business strategy, governance and risk management”.

Telkom said that Olufunke’s appointment is based on the alignment of her skills and experience to the identified board skills gap.

Olufunke holds a BSc honours degree from Salford University, is a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales and accredited as a CA with SAICA. She has served as the CFO of Tiger Brands and Primedia, as well as an executive director for Barloworld and 9mobile.

She also briefly served as the CFO-designate at Barloworld.

She founded and led the private equity business of Kagiso Trust Investment Group and is currently a non-executive director of Massmart Holdings, Old Mutual, Old Mutual Life Assurance, Ascential and Sabvest Capital. She was formerly a non-executive director for Datatec and Transaction Capital.
