Gold Fields’ strong balance sheet earns it a credit rating upgrade, says CFO Paul Schmidt

The gold mine has been upgraded from a BBB- rating to a BB+ rating by S&P Global Ratings.

S&P Global Ratings has upgraded Gold Fields’ credit rating from BBB- to BB+. “This upgrade puts Gold Fields on an investment-grade credit rating at both S&P and Moody’s Investors Services, and highlights the work we have done in recent years to strengthen the balance sheet,” says Gold Fields CFO Paul Schmidt.

The ratings agency has also upgraded the company's debt ratings on its senior unsecured notes, raised its short-term rating to A-3 from B, and affirmed its zaAAA/zaA-1+ South African national scale ratings.
