Irba investigation into KPMG nearing completion

Bernard Agulhas, CEO of Irba, says the body's investigation in audit firm KPMG is almost complete

The Independent Regulatory Board for Auditors (Irba) has, for the last few months, been conducting an investigation into the South African arm of KPMG, following the discovery that the firm had been conducting work for companies owned by the Gupta family. The Irba seems satisfied with the investigation progress thus far.

Bernard Agulhas (pictured), CEO of Irba, said in a statement:

“The Irba can confirm that one of the lines of investigation is nearing completion and will be tabled at the upcoming investigating committee, while others are progressing satisfactorily.”

Agulhas added that while most of the information required of KPMG from the South African Revenue Service had been received, some information was still outstanding, but noted that the Irba was engaging with the firm to obtain it and thus complete the investigation.
