Masilo has been nominated for his work as the CFO of the Department of Public Service and Administration.

Masilo Makhura has been nominated for the 2021 CFO Awards for the work he has done as the CFO of the Department of Public Service and Administration.

At the annual “Oscars for South African finance professionals”, which is now entering its seventh year, CFOs of listed companies, large corporations, state-owned entities and government institutions are recognised and rewarded for their outstanding performance and leadership.

Masilo graduated as a BCom student in 1998 at the University of the North, then joined PwC as a trainee accountant.

After completing his articles in 2001, he joined Pytron Consulting’s public sector unit, where he was sent to Mpumalanga to implement the current basic accounting system (BAS) in all Mpumalanga government departments.

In August 2002 he resigned from Pytron Consulting and joined the government in Mpumalanga in the provincial office of the Accountant General as a deputy director of financial systems. He also chaired the provincial CFO forum of Mpumalanga.

In 2008 he joined the Department of Co-operative Governance and Traditional Affairs in Pretoria as an FD, before joining the Department of Public Service and Administration as CFO in 2011.
