Margherita will hold the role, along with her current role, until a replacement for Nick Read has been appointed.
Vodafone Group has announced the appointment of its current group CFO, Margherita Della Valle as interim group CEO as Nick Read steps down from the CEO role at the end of December.
Margherita was appointed group CFO in July 2018. Her previous roles with the company include deputy CFO, group financial controller, CFO for the European region and CFO for its Italian region.
In addition to being appointed interim group CEO, Margherita will also continue in her current role while the company searches for Nick’s successor.
“I agree with the board that now is the right moment to hand over to a new leader, who can build on Vodafone’s strengths and capture the significant opportunities ahead,” Nick said about the appointment.
Nick will remain available as an adviser to Vodafone until March 2023.
Vodafone has also recently seen a board shake-up, with the likes of 2018 CFO of the Year Christine Ramon joining as a non-executive director.
