Christiaan Barnard is a Chartered Accounted (SA) by qualification. He completed his articles at PKF Inc. He then went to work at Grant Thornton as an Audit Senior. Through various family interests he was exposed to the real estate sector at a very young age and understands the demands associated with unlocking value in a real estate environment. Christiaan has experience in audit practices in various industries including Software development and Support, Oil and Gas production and Property REIT Holdings. Christiaan Joined Spear after leaving Grant Thornton LLP (Dallas) and is responsible in overseeing the financial functions for the entire Spear REIT, its subsidiaries and related operations. He was appointed CFO of Spier Reit in August 2016. He has a B.Acc from Stellenbosch University.

About Spear REIT Ltd: Spear’s investment portfolio is made up of 31 properties comprising of a well-balanced mix, 3% Residential, 52% Industrial, 14% Retail, 23% Office, 8% Hospitality by Gross Lettable Area (GLA). The total GLA of the portfolio is 307 000m² of which 49% of the properties are being let to single tenants and 51% to multiple tenants ranging from JSE listed entities to small or medium enterprises.
