Cell C appoints Douglas Stevenson, who has been acting in the role, as CEO

Douglas Stevenson's appointment was unanimously approved by the board with full support to lead Cell C.

Cell C has announced the appointment of Douglas Craigie Stevenson as its new CEO with immediate effect. 

Douglas joined Cell C in October 2017 as COO and was appointed as interim CEO in March 2019, taking over from Cell C CEO of six years Jose Dos Santos

Prior to joining Cell C, Douglas served as CEO of Telekom Networks Malawi plc, MD of Vodacom Business Africa Group, CFO of Business Africa Group and Enterprise Business Partner Vodacom South Africa, FD of Vodacom Mozambique, and commercial director and FD at Vodacom Tanzania

He holds an MBA from the University of the Free State, as well as a B.AccSc honours degree from UNISA. 

Cell C chairman Kuben Pillay said: 

“In the past five months, Douglas and his team have led the company to improved financial stability, sound business ethics and good governance, better operational performance and has established a path to sustainability. His permanent appointment was unanimously approved by the board and we are fully behind his efforts to lead Cell C.”
