Jabu Ndlovu appointed as new BP Southern Africa CFO

Jabu has replaced Udayan Sen as CFO of BP Southern Africa as of 1 January.

Jabu Ndlovu has taken over as CFO of BP Southern Africa from Udayan Sen, who has moved to Australia, as CFO for BP in the region.

Jabu has been with BP (South Africa and UK) since July 1996, during which time he has served in various roles ranging from engineering, operations, finance, strategy, portfolio and BEE transformation.

He has worked closely with Udayan, who was his line manager, and knows what to expect from the role. He believes in "continuity, building on the successes of my predecessor, especially the journey of people development.”

He says:

“People are the assets of the business and definitely for the finance function, which is one of the strongest teams within BP Southern Africa. I have a strong team of direct reports in the various aspects of the role and I respect what the team brings to the table. I am therefore very comfortable delegating to the team and giving the team space. I will continue having the oversight on strategy development and implementation together with BEE Transformation.”

Jabu sees himself as a strong business CFO rather than a bean counter. He believes the role one of partnership to the CEO requires a depth of business understanding. At the same time, the CFO should be “a respected partner who holds different opinions when required in ensuring success of the business. The ‘co-pilot’ aspects of the role energise me as I enjoy commercial aspects of the business.”

Of taking over from Udayan, he had this to say:

“I look forward to stepping into the very big shoes of my predecessor and continuing the agenda that he started and difference he made to the business.”
