In a world where organisations are increasingly expected to deliver value beyond profit, the 2025 CFO Power of Purpose Summit intends to help CFOs find value in a purpose-driven company.
This year the CFO South Africa community will be treated to a discussion on how to harness purpose-driven financial leadership, by balancing shareholder returns with stakeholder impact to create value.
Set for the 19th of February at 39 Melrose Boulevard in Johannesburg, the CEO Power of Purpose Summit will bring together some of the brightest minds in finance, an exciting line-up of speakers, and countless networking opportunities.
Futurist, trend analyst, and partner at Flux Trends Bronwyn Williams will be our keynote speaker, addressing the idea of moving from 'Postalgia to Purpose'. She’s involved with several future-focused organisations and is currently researching the impact of socio-economic trends and emerging technologies on businesses, industries, and nations.
Bronwyn will be followed by a high-level energy panel discussion with Riaan Davel, 2024 CFO Award winner and CFO of DRDGold. In a previous interview with CFO South Africa Riaan explained why his driving purpose is to “reverse the environmental legacy of mining and improve the quality of life for the people and communities around our operations”.
Joining Riaan will be engineering consultant, trusted adviser, and CFO of Zutari, Joe Ndala, a chartered accountant and 2018 CFO Awards nominee.
Taryn Woodbridge, 2024 CFO finance transformation award winner and CFO of Mercedes-Benz South Africa, previously told CFO South Africa that her purpose lies in training. She believes that South Africans have a mentality that makes them just as capable as other international hires. “South Africans have this can-do mindset. We can get a lot done, despite any obstacles.”
2018 CFO Awards nominee and CFO of Marsh Africa, Michelle Pienaar believes in leading by example and having an open-door policy. She previously told CFO South Africa, “for me, it is important to lead by example. I like to believe that I have an open-door policy and I feel like I have a responsibility to develop the colleagues in my team and help them to be successful in their roles, even if that means that one day they will go somewhere else. We often collaborate as a team and have open discussions about what they feel is working and what isn’t.
“I also think it's important to challenge the team. One of our global priorities from a finance perspective is to elevate the strategic impact of finance, moving away from simply reporting to providing business insights.”
They will also be joined by Stephen Mahlare, a chartered accountant and executive director for finance at Barloworld Equipment.
It’s going to be an exciting evening filled with insightful conversations and a network of industry peers.
