With little more than three weeks to go until the 2022 CFO Awards, we reminisce on last year’s winners.

A little more than a year ago, CFO South Africa announced the winners of the 2021 CFO Awards. With the 2022 CFO Awards just around the corner, we decided to take you back to that fateful night, when eight of the country’s leading finance professionals were celebrated for their excellence.

The big winner of the night was Bongi Ngoma, who walked away with three awards, including the coveted CFO of the Year Award, the Public Sector CFO of the Year Award, and the Transformation & Empowerment Award.

Bongi, who was nominated for her work as the CFO of the Auditor-General of South Africa, was the first public sector CFO to take home the CFO of the Year Award in the history of the event.

The High-Performance Team Award went to EOH group FD Megan Pydigadu. In a later interview with CFO South Africa she revealed exactly why she deserved to win this Award.

Northam Platinum CFO Alet Coetzee won the Compliance & Governance Award, but was unable to attend the event. Instead Nabeelah Cassim and Janri Rieckert received the award on her behalf.

Distell group FD Lucas Verwey received the Moving into Africa Award, and finally, then AECI CFO Mark Kathan received the Finance & Technology Award.

With some exceptional leaders in the running for this year’s CFO Awards, the ceremony, which will take place on 16 November, promises to be just as spectacular.
