A poll conducted at the inaugural event shows what’s top of mind for South Africa’s financial leaders.

The financial landscape of South Africa witnessed a groundbreaking event that set the stage for innovation and collaboration. CFO South Africa hosted its inaugural Pitch Parade at The Venue in Melrose Arch on 16 July.

This dynamic networking session brought together the pinnacle of CFO leaders and industry experts. With a unique twist, each presenter had just four minutes to showcase their cutting-edge solutions to a packed audience, making for a thrilling and fast-paced experience.

Adding a dash of humour to the proceedings was Nicholas Goliath, a renowned stand-up comedian, who expertly navigated the event as MC.

As CFOs, financial leaders play a critical role in driving business success. To gain a deeper understanding of their thoughts and opinions on business technology, a poll was conducted during the event. Here are the results.

Automation, integration and security are the top priorities for CFOs, who are keenly aware of the need for streamlined processes, connected systems and protected data to drive business efficiency and growth.

However, the poll also revealed that cost constraints and change management remain significant challenges for many CFOs. Nearly half of respondents reported being held back by cost constraints, while change management was identified as a major implementation hurdle.

Despite these challenges, CFOs are excited about the potential of emerging technologies. Artificial Intelligence (AI) and data analytics were the most popular technologies being considered or implemented, followed by robotic process automation, cloud computing, and business intelligence.

When selecting an implementation partner, CFOs prioritise strong local expertise and support, as well as a proven track record. Cost and value transparency are also essential considerations.

So, what's the most exciting thing about new tech implementations for CFOs? Efficiency, automation, and innovation top the list. Other notable mentions include visibility, accuracy and cost savings.

Overall, the poll results offer valuable insights into the minds of CFOs. By understanding their priorities, challenges, and interests, we can better support and enable their success in the ever-changing landscape of business technology.
