Former Discovery Health Medical Scheme CFO Joy Malete has been appointed regional finance director for Africa, the Middle East and Asia Pacific at Sage.
Sage has appointed Joy Malete as its new regional finance director for Africa, the Middle East and Asia Pacific (AMEA).
Joy joins Sage from Discovery Health Medical Scheme, where she served as CFO from April 2021. Prior to that, she was director of controllership at Visa. She also spent two years as a finance strategy consultant at Ambani Africa, alongside her corporate leadership roles.
“I’m excited to share that I've joined Sage as Regional Finance Director for Africa, the Middle East, and Asia Pacific (AMEA). We all know that SMEs are the lifeblood of our economies, and I’m proud to join a team that is enabling millions of them with the technology, insights, and confidence to thrive,” she says in a LinkedIn post.
She adds that she is looking forward to contributing to Sage’s strategy across the AMEA region while working alongside an exceptional team.

Joy began her career at Deloitte South Africa, where she completed her articles as a trainee accountant before progressing to the role of auditor. She later held a range of finance management positions at Stanlib, building extensive experience across financial leadership, strategy and controllership.
