Oceana Group, which recently said goodbye to two top executives, has announced the appointment of Zaf Mahomed as its CFO designate with effect from 1 November.

“I'm really excited to be joining the Oceana Group with its long history, global reach and excellent empowerment credentials,” Zaf says. “I’m looking forward to working with the team to unlock value for all stakeholders.”

He will assume the role of CFO and executive director from 1 February 2023, and will be taking over from Ralph Buddle, who has been serving as interim CFO since August.

Zaf joins the group from Cell C, where he was responsible for the turnaround and recapitalisation of the telcom. Before that, he was the CFO tasked with the turnaround of McDonald’s South Africa.

He has extensive experience across various industries, including manufacturing, retail, financial services, real estate and property, food, medical, mining and FMCG. He brings with him his expertise in mergers and acquisitions, strategy development, property management, investor relations, change management and business turnaround.
