SA congratulates Christine Ramon on CFO of the Year 2018 recognition

Social media erupted in a warm outpouring of congratulations after the historic election of AngloGold Ashanti's Christine Ramon as CFO of the Year 2018.

Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter and Instagram were abuzz with excitement after Christine Ramon became the first woman to win CFO of the Year during the fifth annual CFO Awards, held on Thursday 10 May 2018 on Constitutional Hill in Johannesburg. Over 10,000 online visitors of the CFO South Africa Facebook page had been shared in the news by Monday morning and the news had garnered nearly 400 likes and was shared and commented on almost every hour.

Congratulations came from fellow CFOs, leaders from the corporate world, friends and Christine's only family. Justine Mazzocco, Christine's twin sister, posted: 

Congratulations Christine! We are so proud of you!

Companies and organisations like Deloitte, PwC, W.Consulting, Oracle and the Institute of Internal Auditors all shared the news. On Thursday, Christine became the first and only nominee at the CFO Awards to win no less than four of the ten awards. During her acceptance speeches she called for ethical leadership and referred to her position as female role model: 

"As a woman leader, I would like to encourage other women leaders to empower and develop other women, stand proud and stand tall in their support.”

Christine Ramon shared a similar message on Instagram: "Thank you to my wonderful family, to my great team for all your support and to AngloGold Ashanti! I dedicate my CFO of the Year 2018 award to all of you! This is an inspiration to all the women out there! Let's support each other in achieving greater heights, @ Contitution Hill (South Africa)"
