2015 a bumper year for CFOs

post-title

South African CFOs and FDs have never been in a stronger position to share knowledge, meet peers, learn from partners and network. And here’s the good news: 2015 is going to be even bigger and better!

CFO South Africa's founding directors Alex van Groningen, Melle Eijckelhoff, community managers Jurriën Morsch and Chantelle Booysen-Fourie and myself, editor Joël Roerig, wish all CFOs and finance professionals a very prosperous 2015!

Expect inspiring gatherings for CFO South Africa's Platinum Members, energizing meetings of the recently formed Public CFO Chapter and a series of exciting events where everything relevant to South African CFOs will be discussed.

During 2015 it pays to check back daily on our website CFO.co.za as we bring you CFO interviews, Expert Insights, newsletters, editorials and partner interviews.

Of course our annual landmark event will be the CFO Awards on 14 May at the Summer Place in Hyde Park, Johannesburg. The inaugural event in 2014 was a resounding success, with captains of industry and CFOs of listed companies, large corporations, parastatals and government institutions attending the gala diner where Standard Bank's Simon Ridley won the CFO of the Year award.

This year the CFO Awards are preceded by a prestigious conference with inspiring speakers from inside and outside South Africa. The panel of judges that will adjudicate the nominated CFOs is stronger than ever - and the candidates that have so far been put forward for the awards won't be out of place in any board room.

Our first event of the year - titled Get Smart in 2015 - will be double header in Johannesburg (17 February) in Cape Town (19 February). During round tables, masterclasses and the networking we will discuss the new economy, value creation, complementary economics and ideas to make the world a better place. What are the smartest ideas for CFOs to improve their business? Key note presentations will be held by JSE CEO Nicky Newton-King and the Dutch 'professional lifehacker' Martijn Aslander.

The rest of the year is also packed with events in Johannesburg that no CFOs can afford to miss, with themes like Moving into Africa (19 March), Capital & Finance (16 April), Corporate Growth (30 July), Digital Transformation (17 September) and Risk, Compliance & Control (19 November). Head over to the event section to find out more!
