Insurance group Sanlam recently launched a new division called Sanlam Corporate, which will offer its corporate clients a comprehensive employee benefits solution, including life, health and general insurance, financial planning and advice, among other things. The division will be headed by Junior John Ngulube (pictured), former CEO of Munich Reinsurance Company of Africa.

Ngulube has worked for Munich Re of Africa - one of the world's largest reinsurance companies - for 28 years, and has been CEO of its sub-Saharan operations since 2007. He will take up his new post with Sanlam on 1 February, and will also become a member of the Sanlam executive committee.

Ian Kirk, Sanlam CEO, said:

"Junior brings a wealth of experience in financial services which he gained at one of the largest reinsurance companies in Africa. He has great insurance expertise in South Africa and the rest of Africa. We are confident that he is well qualified to lead the formation of the Sanlam Corporate business cluster and to grow it into a formidable part of the Group's operations. We welcome him to Sanlam and look forward to his contribution."

In other company news, Sanlam announced that the group's former CEO, Dr Johan van Zyl, would be joining the board as a non-executive director and representative of Ubuntu-Botho Investment Holdings, Sanlam's BEE partner.
