Nomanini is a South African-based enterprise payments platform provider that optimises transactions in the informal market
Enterprise payments platform provider Nomanini was one of the FinTechs doing battle in the Payments & Transfers category at the African FinTech Awards 2017, hosted at the Finance Indaba Africa at the Sandton Convention Centre in October.
Nomanini, meaning “Anytime” in siSwati, is a South African-based enterprise payments platform provider that optimises transactions in the informal market. Nomanini enables financial inclusion via local informal retail merchants, who already serve as a daily touch point for over 80% of people in Africa. It enables merchants and agents to facilitate a wide-range of basic transactions including mobile top-ups, utility payments, remittances, deposits, withdrawals, account opening and mobile money/card acceptance and works with banks to enable existing third party merchant aggregators, such as mobile and FMCG distributors, to acquire and serve merchants efficiently.
“We provide transaction tools for merchants and agents and it enables not just those agents to become agents for banks and other financial services providers, but also the networks of merchants and merchants aggregators who can use these tools to actually manage their whole network of agents. Some 80% of retail in Africa is informal, so it is an interesting opportunity to connect those merchants that are that are dominating that that informal retail space to become agents of formal financial services. That's the opportunity that Nomanini is focusing on, specifically looking at what those agents need and actually enabling them to also create income and more footfall and access financial services themselves,” said director Wim van der Beek.
