Award-winning public sector CFOs show how it's done at Finance Indaba 2018

post-title

Krish Kumar and Dumisani Dlamini will exhibit the progressive thinking that made them award-winners.

Public finance is a challenging and rewarding space to work in –the stakes are high and the level of scrutiny is intense. Those finance professionals who carve out a niche for themselves in this sector often have stories to share of challenges overcome and successes hard won.

At the Finance Indaba 2018 on 3 and 4 October at the Sandton Convention Centre, current Public Sector CFO of the Year eThekwini Municipality’s Krish Kumar, and former Public Sector CFO of the Year, SANParks’s Dumisani Dlamini, will both participate in panels where they’ll have the opportunity to show their battle scars and celebrate their achievements.

Dumisani will be speaking about “Turning Crisis into Opportunity” along with Andrew McMaster, FD at Peninsula Beverages, and Mohammed Abdool-Samad, Group FD at Illovo.

And Krish will be sharing his “Advice for My Younger Self” with Megan Pydigadu, CFO at Eazi Access Rental and another public sector CFO, Clifford Appel, of the Department of Social Development.

These sessions are a must for anyone considering a future in finance leadership in the public – or private – sector:

3 October

13.00 - 13.45      TURNING CRISIS INTO OPPORTUNITY
When a crisis looms, it is often the CFO whom the organisation turns to for direction or ideas. In this session we ask CFOs who have lived with real commercial crises to share their insights and perspectives. What did they do? How did they do it? And perhaps most importantly: What would they do if it happened again?

By: Andrew McMaster (FD at Peninsula Beverages), Mohammed Abdool-Samad (Group FD at Illovo) and Dumisani Dlamini (CFO at SANParks)
Hosted by: CFO South Africa
Room: Ballroom 2 | The Executive Journey

4 October

11.00 - 11.45       ADVICE FOR MY YOUNGER SELF
Hindsight, as all accountants know, can be a powerful tool when used correctly. In this session we ask leading CFOs what advice they might give their younger selves as a way of trying to understand how they reached the top and how things have changed. This is a must-see session for all aspiring CFOs.
By: Krish Kumar (CFO at eThekwini Municipality), Megan Pydigadu (CFO at Eazi Access Rental) and Clifford Appel (CFO at Dept Social Development)
